Shedding season
They shed/moult twice a year but drop hair all year round so if you are very house proud this is not the dog for you. Late spring / early summer, depending on the weather you will notice your dog start to 'blow his winter coat', this is the biggest shed. It can take up to 6 weeks, many people panic when first seeing this shed as there is an incredible amount of hair comes out leaving the dog looking quite skinny. Some people have taken them to the vet thinking they were ill. Please don't panic and think you are starving your dog, shedding and losing their undercoat although unsightly is a perfectly natural process for your dog to go through. During the summer your dog will also eat less and therefore look much leaner.
